Styling that commands attention

Just one look at the LandCruiser 200 and you know you're looking at a 4WD with a distinguished pedigree. Its rugged style and sleek lines make it the ultimate statement in dynamic and luxurious manoeuvrability. For example, adopted across the range is a body-coloured rear spoiler, which not only adds some aggressive flair, it also improves aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. And so it is with the rest of the vehicle-it's never just about looks. Everything about the design combines eye-catching aesthetics with the ultimate in functionality, ensuring that LandCruiser continues to build on its enviable reputation as the most trusted and desirable 4WD on Earth.

Seamless integration of the essentials

There when you need it, gone when you don't. The tow bar on the cleverly designed LandCruiser 200 series is integrated into the rear bumper, including a colour-coded cover which conceals it when not in use. When it does come out to play, however, you'll still be able to enjoy LandCruiser's legendary pulling power-up to 3,500kg for a braked trailer and 750kg un-braked.

Reinventing the wheel

Of course, without the wheel, none of LandCruiser's significant achievements would have been possible. And to help you make some significant achievements of your own, the LandCruiser 200 series comes with ruggedly designed 17 inch alloy wheels, fitted with 285/65 R17 Dunlop tyres for the GXL and 18 inch alloy wheels, fitted with 285/60 R18 Dunlop tyres for the VX and Sahara.

Even more bright thinking

The large combination headlamps on the LandCruiser 200 function to the highest degree suggested by their bold design. Headlamps, clearance lamps and front turn signals are all integrated into the casing, calibrated for optimum visual quality. Mud on the lens? Don't worry. The Sahara is fitted with retractable headlamp cleaners which neatly disappear into the front bumper once the dirt has been washed away.

Off the road, in the air

LandCruiser will tackle any surface you throw at it, and quite a few atmospheric conditions, too. When fog and mist impact driving conditions, it's comforting to know that the large multi-reflector type fog lamps fitted standard on the VX and Sahara have the cut-through necessary to aid you on your journey. They also add a touch of styling luminance to the front end.

Any road conditions, any weather conditions

There'd be little point in creating a 4WD that can take you anywhere if it can't take you there in comfort. That's why you'll find the climate control system in the LandCruiser 200 series better than ever. The GXL and VX enjoy dual zone front climate control air conditioning with rear cooler and controls. The Sahara model boasts 4-zone climate control air conditioning, so that driver, passenger and second row occupants can fine-tune their immediate environment quickly and efficiently. There are up to 28 outlet vents, providing total control of comfort levels throughout the vehicle, with superb air quality assured through pollen filtration fitted as standard.

Hear, hear

If 9-speaker AM/FM audio, 6 CD/DVD changer and integrated Electro Multi Vision Navigation (EMV-N) sound appealing, read on. These are just some of the refinements you'll find in the top-of-the-range LandCruiser 200 Sahara. As you navigate using the 32,000-colour VGA display, you can enjoy crisp, high-quality audio, all controllable from the steering wheel. Of course, the GXL and VX don't miss out. They boast superb 6-speaker audio, in-dash 6 CD changer, USB input, audio input for iPod®+ and, like the Sahara, MP3 compatibility and Bluetooth™ capability. Cabin noise is also the quietest in its class, making it the perfect venue for music or talk.

A cool convenience

Chances are, as the owner of a LandCruiser 200, from time to time you'll find yourself a long way off the beaten track. The good news is that you don't have to go out of your way to find a shop or dig around in an Esky to enjoy a cool refresher. Integrated into the centre console of the Sahara model is a large cool box, ideal for drinks, snacks or anything else which helps take the heat out of a day, on or off the road.

The inside story on versatility

Whether it's two of you, four of you, or seven of you, the LandCruiser 200 is invincible when it comes to seating and storage versatility. With up to 8-seat capacity across three rows, you, like the LandCruiser itself, will be able to adapt to any situation. Second row seats have a 60:40 split on the GXL and a 40:20:40 split on the VX and Sahara, with simple-to-use one-touch tumble mechanism. Third row split is 50:50 on all vehicles, and offers more storage space than the previous model when folded away. Front and second row seats have plenty of adjustability, assuring everybody has all the legroom they could ever need.

A smarter way to drive

The luxurious styling of the LandCruiser 200's interior is evident to the eye in every detail. Not so evident are the touches of luxury that can only be experienced through use. Take Smart Entry and Smart Start, for example, which come standard across the range. You don't have to use your key to open the doors or start the car any more. Sensors detect when the key is in range and you need only touch the door handles to open up, or step on the brake and press the start button on the dash to turn on the engine. Like everything about the LandCruiser 200 series, it's all about giving you the most pleasurable driving experience possible.

Safety

Better stability as standard

Standard across the entire LandCruiser 200 line-up, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) is one of the many technologically advanced active safety features Toyota has built in to protect you and your family. Designed to enhance driver control on slippery or loose surface bends, VSC uses sensor input to dampen understeer (loss of front wheel grip) and oversteer (loss of rear-wheel grip), ensuring smooth, safe cornering. Greater stability equals greater safety-simple.

Traction control gets more active

Active Traction Control (ATRC) helps set world-beating standards in traction performance and comes standard across the LandCruiser 200 range. ATRC dynamically distributes the torque to each wheel as well as regulates brake pressure, eliminating wheel-spin and ensuring that the tyres with the best grip always help the driver to keep the vehicle in motion. The system automatically adjusts to the transfer range selected. No matter what sort of driving conditions you tackle, ATRC helps give you the superior sense of 4WD driving control that only LandCruiser delivers.

Passive safety in the bag

The LandCruiser 200 is more serious about passive safety than ever before, with up to 10 airbags (VX & Sahara) strategically positioned to protect you and your passengers in the event of an accident. Standard driver and passenger front airbags have dual-stage deployment based on collision speed. Also standard are side airbags and full-length curtain shield airbags, which also deploy to third row seat occupants. In addition, second row side airbags and driver and passenger knee airbags are available on VX & Sahara. No other comparable vehicle has taken such an initiative in passive safety, in fact it's a level of safety that even many luxury vehicles in the Australian market can't match.

Impact protection on your side

To make sure the LandCruiser 200 sets the highest of standards in safety on and off the road, we've built into it plenty of features we hope you never have to rely on. In creating the stronger, lighter frame structure, we've included improved frame and underbody reinforcements to help absorb side impact and lessen damage both inside and out.

ABS that enjoys the terrain as much as you do

LandCruiser 200 comes with our multi-terrain anti-lock braking system (ABS) for even greater control, safety and confidence in difficult braking situations. The control logic senses when the vehicle changes driving conditions and alters ABS performance to suit, adjusting brake pressure to each tyre depending on its relationship to the road surface. Be it bitumen, dirt, ice, mud or sand, multi-terrain ABS lives up to its name by giving you controlled deceleration no matter where your next journey takes you. LC200 also incorporates Brake Assist (BA) which supplements your braking effort in an emergency, so your brakes are applied with optimum force and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) which intelligently distributes brake-force between the front and rear and the left and right wheels. EBD adjusts dynamically for straight-line driving and cornering, which is critical when negotiating rough terrain.

Mechanical

Massive Power, Massive Torque, Less Fuel

The LC200 more than adequately delivers power befitting its 'King Off The Road' title. The 4.5L V8 Twin Turbo Diesel engine gives you 195kW of power to play with, along with 650Nm of torque. Not to be out-done, the 4.7L V8 DOHC VVT-i Petrol grade delivers a mighty 202kW and 410Nm. Obviously, with power comes responsibility, and the LC200 takes its obligations very seriously. Both engines were designed with excellent fuel efficiency in mind. The diesel consumes a mere 10.3L / 100km* and the petrol just 14.5L / 100km*, and both meet strict Euro IV emission standards. (* ADR81/02 combined cycle. Actual fuel consumption may vary depending on driving style and conditions and options/accessories fitted.)

A more intelligent ride

The LandCruiser 200 interacts with the road-or whatever you happen to be driving across-like no other vehicle on Earth. Standard on selected LandCruiser 200 models the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS#) delivers the highest possible performance through even greater stability and control during both off-road and on-road driving. KDSS# optimally adjusts front and rear stabilizers resistance based on movement of the hydraulic cylinders, assuring safe driving and a high level of comfort without the need for an additional power source. Developed right here in Australia for Australian conditions, KDSS# sets the benchmark in suspension control technology. (#KDSS is an optional extra on GXL Turbo Diesel and standard on all other grades. )

Full-Time 4WD

The 4WD system in the LandCruiser 200 gives it full-time invincibility, under almost any driving conditions. Using an efficient motor switching method, it makes changing between low and high ratios a simple matter of turning a dial on your dash--and locking the centre differential for that extra bit of driving force is just as easy. A torque sensing LSD (Torsen® LSD) in the centre differential provides optimum torque distribution between front and rear wheels, providing better traction and control during acceleration and turning, and, just as importantly, increasing your enjoyment of the drive.

A world first with CRAWL

CRAWL is the 4WD control system making its world debut in the LandCruiser 200. The ultimate in intelligent control, CRAWL operates like an off-road cruise control, automatically maintaining a low uniform vehicle speed to enable stable driving. This allows you to concentrate solely on steering because accelerator and brake operations occur automatically from the CRAWL control. CRAWL has been developed based on the pedal operations of veteran off-road driving experts, and, as a result, the control achieved impresses even the master test drivers who have participated in development.
